Ansel Adams Photography

Ansel Adams was one of the most famous photographers of all time, and probably the most famous American photographer ever. Before he attended a private school, he was tutored by his father and his Aunt Mary. Besides being a photographer, he was a pianist and an avid environmentalist. His first photograph, Monolith, the Face of Half Dome, was created in 1927 using a Korona view camera with a dark red filter and glass plates. Adams used the ideas of Paul Strand to enhance his work by using glossy paper opposed to matte. This tip helped showcase his pictures better and make them more pleasing and striking to the eye. In 1931 his first solo museum exhibition was held in the Smithsonian Institution and received rave reviews from the Washington Post. Adams died on April 22nd. 1984 after being one bed rest for four weeks due to a leg surgery where a tumor was removed.

My personal favorite photo by Ansel Adams is The Tetons and the Snake River because of the depth of the photo and how it looks almost like a painting. It demonstrates how much detail Adams put into his work.
